Don't bank on the ombudsman

Don't bank on the ombudsman

In a dispute with a bank, can the ombudsman be relied on to be truly independent?

It’s a curious thing: we’ve been led to believe that if we have a problem with a company we can simply take the matter to the industry ombudsman, where we’ll get a fair hearing and an independent adjudication. But industry ombudsmen are paid by the industry, so how on earth can they be truly independent?

As this story shows, the Banking Ombudsman, Clive Pillay, is certainly neither fair nor independent.

Nedbank stole R62 000 from a credit card account of mine, two years later still no reply from Ombudsman.
They're an absolute joke.

Good luck at the constitutional court, as far as I'm concerned the people there are probably not any better than those in other supposed law-enforcement aegencies.

Clive Pillay is a darn liar along with Adv John Simpson and Nerosha Moodley who blatantly 'covered up' and blatantly lied on behalf of a Nedbank matter I recently had with them. My Nedbank matter had taken the Banking Ombudsman 10 months only to turn around and tell me it was out of their mandate and that I should proceed to a normal court of law , I beg the question - why had they accepted it then in the first place?

This article is absolutely correct in stating that the OBSSA is completely on the banks side!

How can they not be when their finance director is the same person as Nedbank's!

The Ombudsman Banking Services South Africa is the most corrupt organization around , conning innocent citizens out of their hard earned money, increasing the banks profits!

The local website www.thebigcase.co.za says it all. It's time to take on the banks head on at the Constitutional Court...
