With conservation officials like these, who needs vandals?

In its battle to reclaim Sonstraal dam for the fishing fraternity, Cape Nature has resorted to chemical warfare and scorched earth tactics - against a few dozen invading ducks. In the dreadful Durbanville Duck War, Sybrand Burger, the Head of Parks for the Tygerberg region, allegedly told Wendy Herbig of Friends of Sonstraal Dam: "I'm going to kill every fucking duck unil such time as we get our fishing back."

Yes, folks - we now have nature officials who know nothing about nature.

Has anyone considered the rights of the fishing fraternety? The hoi-poloi have simply decided to find a speculative excuse to have the "undesireables" ousted from their little kingdom of privilege.
The problem is, as usual, with poor service delivery from the proud City of Cape Town - why can't they just clean and maintain the area properly, in exchange for the exhorbitant rates for the "high value" of the surrounding properties?
Has any research been done on the fatality rate of fish caught and released? (This being the basis of the ban?)

So now we see the DA for what it is. A wolf in duck feathers.
