Sincere, if late, condolences to Zenande's family. Unfortunately, when one does ask questions, and are told "it's normal" time and again, you start to think that you yourself are abnormal. These medical staff should be fired as well as charged with criminal negligence, if that is possible. Perhaps that way, all medical staff around the country will learn to take patients' or their families' questions as relevant and intelligent and check on the patient. Families know the patient far better than the medical staff and may pick up something which would otherwise go unnoticed. It is criminal that lay people are all regarded as stupid. When will professionals (teachers are included in this) learn that just because somebody questions your actions does not mean that they are stupid, nor that they think that you are stupid!

This is just unacceptable and totally evil. I hope Dr Gouws gets what she deserves. I truly believe in Karma - what you give out comes back to haunt you. I have sent this mail to all my friends who have kids, those who are married and planning on having kids so they can put that evil Dr's name on their never to be used list of doctors. Remember bad news travels fast.

Excellent - style of reporting.

Reminds of the Malherbe matter in the PE High Court, with alterered documents, missing records. And you guessed right - it all came down on former nurse - at least that is the impression defense wanted to create. Phew!

I have a very good friend who developed diabetes during her pregnancy. When her daughter was born, they were both fine and then mysteriously both went into a coma. Guess what? Their drips were inadvertently reversed. When the hospital was sued, guess what? All files mysteriously were "lost".

Doctors look after their own, you'll never get any doctor to testify against another...

Editor's Note
They happily protect their own... Mr. Nose is once again just too conversant with what they can do. The NPA on the other hand is filled with attorneys who do not even know the differences between a nurse and a doctor...

But of course Dr Gouws won't be taken to task - his indifference and incompetence are disgusting. I wonder how he would react if this was his own child??
