Deeply, madly, is how the Irish love Cape Town, judging by the money they’re throwing at it. But they’re so full of blarney, can we trust the statistic I’ve just been given by an Irishman – that 45 000 of his compatriots are reckoned to have property in the Cape? He says he saw it in Dublin’s Irish Times. We’re at St Patrick’s Ball and the Graham Beck Brut is flowing, so I suppose anything’s possible.
