The history of the Great Kickback Saga Row.

Did Noseweek get it all wrong? How could Noseweek have dared to suggest that a R1 million kickback from Auction Alliance might have ended up in the pockets of upright citizens such as Independent Newspapers' Cape editor-in-chief Chris Whitfield and group editor Mogsien Williams, we've been asked.

Dear Editor,

Although I disagree with your opinion of Assange and his motives, which I feel, may have at first been altruistic, but degenerated into a plethora of ego driven self-indulgence, I cannot but totally agree with your assessment of the Independent News / Auction Alliance dalliance.

So with apologies to whomever apologies need to be given, I can but paraphrase that old truism "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Oh, and I too, as espoused Bob Broom, will not cancel my subscription, because Noseweek has the temerity to state an opinion that is different to my own.

Clive, thanks for the citation of the works of English writer, Evelyn Beatrice Hall (wrote under the pseudonym, S.G. Tallentyre)... "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it..." 1906 biographical book The Friends of Voltaire (Fran├žois-Marie Arouet).
