“Hey, Pick n Pay’s selling iPads,” announced a colleague to the Noseweek newsroom a few days ago.

One journalist, keen on the idea of a bargain purchase, immediately picked up the phone to the shop to see whether it was true.

“Hi, can you put me through to the department that sells iPads?” he asked. 

“Please hold on for the pharmacy,” said the telephonist.
